If They Don’t Open It, It Doesn’t Work: Tips to Improve Your Email Open Rate

Is your campaign reaching people, but no one is opening it?

This is one of the most common problems in email marketing: you have contacts, you have content… but your emails are going unnoticed, and the reality is simple: if no one opens your email, it doesn’t matter what’s inside.

At Bizmasoft, we work with strategies focused on improving the actual performance of each send. Here are the key factors that will help your email get opened.

  1. The Subject Line is Everything (Or Almost)
It must be short, clear, intriguing, and real. Avoid empty or generic phrases like “Latest news” or “Monthly newsletter.” A good subject line sparks interest or solves a problem. You can also use strategic emojis, questions, or urgent calls to action.
  2. Personalization
If you can, include the recipient’s name or reference their behavior (“Still interested in the product you viewed?”). This increases relevance and gives the impression that the message was tailored for that person.
  3. Good Sender = More Trust
Avoid emails from impersonal addresses like “info@”, “no-reply@”, or “contact@”. Use a human and recognizable sender. People are more likely to open emails when they know who is writing to them.
  4. The First Text Counts Too
The preview line (preheader) is that small text that accompanies the subject line in the inbox. If you don’t optimize it, it may appear blank… or display unattractive phrases. Use it as an extension of the subject line.
  5. Segment and Send at the Right Time
Not all of your contacts react the same way. Segmenting your base allows you to send more relevant emails at times that really work for each group.
